Minimum and maximum scale of interest and transect spacing

The recommended spacing and design of EcoSound transects depend on four primary factors:

• Size of the waterbody of interest.
• Output of primary interest (bathymetry, vegetation, bottom hardness).
• Time and labor resources available for data collection.
• Primary scale of interest (e.g., resolving plant abundance in front of lakeshore properties vs. a bird’s eye view of the overall condition of plant growth in the lake).
