The recommended spacing and design of EcoSound transects depend on
four primary factors:
- Size of the waterbody of interest.
- Output of primary interest (bathymetry, vegetation, bottom hardness).
- Time and labor resources available for data collection.
- Primary scale of interest (e.g., resolving plant abundance in front of lakeshore
properties vs. a bird’s eye view of the overall condition of plant growth in the
lake).
